A seven-year-old who dressed as Nicola Sturgeon for Halloween delighted Good Morning Britain viewers with his impression of the First Minister. 

Jacob Ferguson and his older brother Lucas, from Coatbridge in North Lanarkshire, appeared on the show alongside their mother Alyson Welsh. 

The pair entertained viewers with their ‘brilliant’ impressions of Sturgeon and Prime Minister Boris Johnson, after a video of Jacob acting out a daily briefing in Scotland went viral last week. 

Hosts Piers Morgan and Susannah Reid were left in stitches after Jacob wagged his finger while impersonating the First Minister, saying: You were told, stay in the house, no parties, save lives!’

Jacob Ferguson and his older brother Lucas, from Coatbridge, appeared on the show alongside their mother Alyson Welsh where they entertained hosts Piers Morgan and Susannah Reid with their impressions 

Alyson explained that after sharing the viral clip, Sturgeon herself privately messaged her to ensure that the family were keeping well during the pandemic. 

Host Piers said: You have a very talented son, to which Alyson replied: ‘I do, and he knows it!’

‘She [Sturgeon] quite quickly retweeted it and said how much she enjoyed it and on Friday evening she sent me a private message to see if we were doing okay. 

‘I thought she was lovely that she took the time to see if we were doing okay.’

Viewers were delighted by the interview, with one viewer teasing: ‘Best we’ve seem from boris in a while’

Piers urged Jacob to show off his impression of the Prime Minister insisting: ‘This is how you do Boris’ and was thrilled when Lucas followed suit and mimicking the PM.

The original video has racked up 2.9K retweets and 22K likes, and sees the seven-year-old deliver well-known lines comedian, Janey Godley’s voice overs of daily briefings.

He exits the stage after exclaiming: ‘My feet are killing me, where’s my clicky pen, Frank, get the door; I want a haggis supper, and make sure it’s deep fried.’  

The video even caught the attention of the First Minister herself, who shared the clip, hailing Jacob a ‘wee star’. 

She penned: ‘Thank you @welsh_alyson – this has made me smile and given me a much needed laugh this morning.

‘What a wee star – I think we might draft him in for the daily briefings!’
