Princess Anne, 70, is the daughter of the Queen and sister of Prince Charles, 71. She will often attend events with her brother and his wife, Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall.

Princess Anne has been married to Timothy Laurence since 1992.

Many years before that, she had a short romance with Andrew Parker Bowles, who later married Camilla.

The Duchess of Cornwall became part of the Royal Family when she wed Prince Charles in 2005.

Although both Princess Anne previously dated Andrew Parker Bowles, body language Judi James told suggested they still have a good relationship.

She said: “Everyone knows how the Charles/Camilla romance panned out but rather than marrying her own Parker Bowles, Anne ended up with first Mark and then her current husband Tim.

“However her body language with Andrew does hint that, like her brother’s emotions for his wife, there are at least some enduring bonds of friendship and affection between them.

“Anne has looked relaxed and engaged with Andrew and his body language over the years has often worn the air of a man engaging in some gentle, flattering flirtation.

“Like his ex-wife he seems to have the skills of being charming and fun and Anne responds with a good humour that is at odds with her often dour-looking facial expressions.”

The pair seem to have a shared sense of humour which is the same as when they first met, Judi added.

“Amazingly little has changed over the years in the body language dynamic between the pair,” she said.

“Andrew’s eyes might have drooped with age, giving him a look of droll sadness, but if anything the compassionate signals between the two have strengthened, with Anne looking engaged and relaxed in his company.”

Both Princess Anne and Camilla dated Andrew, but this has not got in the way of their relationship.

In fact, the body language expert suggested they have a close friendship.

During one outing at the races, the two royal women show their affection.

“Their touch rituals in public are telling,” Judi explained.

“One meeting at a racecourse shows both women wearing what look like delighted smiles and eye contact and Anne has extended one hand palm-up, which Camilla has then placed her own hand over in a sign of affection.

“The affection isn’t one-sided either, Anne’s fingers are curled up around Camilla’s thumb in a reciprocal gesture.”

The expert commented that this bond is even more significant as Princess Anne does not always act that way in public.

She continued: “With any other royal but Anne this might have been unimportant.

“But the Queen’s daughter is a woman who has often appeared to keep a polite and sometimes frosty-looking distance from some of the royal wives and this signal of what looked like easy-going friendship and shared fun with Camilla, who can often appear tense and rather anxious in public, did seem like a first.

“Anne has never shown signs of being particularly close to her brother Charles, but she does seem to share a natural friendship that could even border on a daughter and mother bond with Camilla.”
