Passenger films scary footage of another plane passing close by window on flight

A passenger has filmed a nerve-wracking close encounter with another plane from the window of an Aer Lingus flight.

William Cherry said the passing aircraft, which looked a little too close for comfort, "hasn’t helped" his fear of flying.

He revealed he was happy to reach the ground in Lisbon, Portugal after the journey from Dublin.

He told Dublin Live no other passengers seemed to notice how close the two flights had come to each other.

He added: "What constitutes ‘a near miss’?

"This happened on my flight from Dublin to Lisbon yesterday!! Hasn’t helped my fear of flying!"

People echoed his nerves in the replies with one person saying: "I have to get on a plane in 11 days time!

"This has not helped my fear at all."

Under FAA regulations – planes need to be at least three miles apart horizontally and 1,000ft vertically.

This rule applies when flying over 29,000 feet which appears to be the case in the video.

But while there was obviously nothing to fear, as the video shows, it still made for a spectacularly scary sight for at least one nervous flyer.
