Mum shares easy recipe for fakeaway KFC gravy – and it costs pennies to make

A mum has shared her easy gravy recipe online – and it tastes just like KFC gravy.

The parent shared her quick recipe on the Memories with Dishes blog.

And, while you can pick up some KFC for 50% off right now, it’s a great recipe to make when cooking up a healthier home version.

Now, the actual KFC gravy recipe, containing seven herbs and spices, is a secret.

But, this delicious gravy uses just seven ingredients and water to provide a taste we know and love.

You’ll need butter, flour, garlic powder, black pepper, a beef bouillon cube, a chicken bouillon cube and two cups of water.

You can add a teaspoon of sage if you’d like.

Yep, that’s really all you need.

And, as most of the ingredients cost pennies per use, it's cheap too.

To make the gravy dissolve the bouillon in the two cups of boiling water.

Mix the flour, sage, garlic and pepper in a bowl.

Pop the butter in a a saucepan and melt it on a low heat.

Once it’s melted, add the flour mix and stir until the mix is a golden brown.

It’s a bit like making a roux or white sauce!

Next, slowly add the stock mixture to the pan, stirring continuously.

Finally, turn up the heat to medium and mix until the gravy is thick and creamy – just like KFC!
