Mum-of-22 Sue Radford’s back-to-school routine – like spending £418 on uniforms

As schools start to re-open plenty of parents have been running around sorting out everything their children need from new uniform to stationery and lunch boxes.

It can be a stressful – and expensive – time of year, but few mums have as much to organise as Sue Radford.

The mum-of-22 is the matriarch of Britain’s biggest family and her brood includes eight children who attend four different schools.

And, she has to get everything prepped and ready for their return to school while also looking after toddlers, a baby and a number of older teenagers.

Eight of the kids are in school and another two are in college and Max is in secondary school.

A whopping 19 of the couple’s kids live at home in the family’s massive 10-bedroom former care home including Millie, 19, and her baby daughter Ophelia.

So Sue and her husband Noel, who live in Morecambe, Lancashire, have no choice but to be organised down to the minute so that their little ones morning routines go off without a hitch!

Over on their Instagram, the Radfords gave us all a look inside their busy schedule.

In a post, they showed off piles of folded school uniforms, school shoes and reusable water bottled.

Sue wrote: "And just like that, the summer holidays are over. So sad they are going back to school tomorrow but we’ve had the best summer holidays.”

The post was shared with over 400,000 followers – and commenters were keen to wish the kids well.

One person wrote: "Good luck to them all.”

“Such a lovely family,” added another.

And, in the family’s Channel 4 documentary “22 Kids and Counting” the couple explained more about their back-to-school routine.

Sue said: “We’ve got the uniforms to sort out which we get once a year and the dreaded shoe bill."

“Sometimes you can reuse a PE kit because it still fits them from the year before but definitely not the uniforms, they just get a bit shabby.”

The uniform bill costs the couple around £418 per year and they have to do two school runs every morning.

Sue added: “They need their friends and their schooling, they need their routine back.”
