Social media users have raved over a cheap hack they say will help you remove tough tea and coffee stains from your mugs.

Taking to UK-based Mrs Hinch Cleaning Tips on Facebook, one person asked: ‘Any tips for removing tea/coffee stains from a travel mug?’ and the comment was inundated with responses pointing towards one item.

Steradent denture cleaning tablets retail for only £1 in both Tesco and Sainsbury’s – and work a treat ‘overnight’, especially when paired with boiling water according to some fans.

Packs often contain 30 tablets so it works out at 3p a try when using them to clean your mugs.

Several fans in the comment section recommended soaking the cup after placing the tablet inside the stained item to ensure the best sparkling results.

Others weighed in with their own methods, which ranged from using ‘white vinegar’ to ‘a tiny bit of dissolved Vanish powder’, but the overwhelming majority trusted the denture tablets method.

It comes after a Facebook user turned to one of UK cleanfluencer Mrs Hinch’s fan groups to ask others to share their top tips for removing tough blood stains from bedding.

Several cleaning fans took to the post to share how using a 65p household item – salt – will help get them clean again.

They revealed that dissolving a liberal amount of salt in cold water, before soaking the soiled bedding in the mixture, can help lift the pesky stains out of the sheets.

One Facebook user wrote: ‘Soak them in cold water with salt, my mum always did and it works.’ And another agreed, simply writing: ‘Soak in cold water and lots of salt.’

Others noted the importance of using cold water, as hot can ‘set’ the blood stain in fabric.

One cleaning enthusiast explained: ‘Soak in cold salty water before washing. Hot water will set the stain.’

Meanwhile, Mrs Hinch has previously revealed how you can keep your bed itself fresh and clean.

According to the cleaning influencer, it’s recommended you turn your mattress once a month and refresh it every three to six months.

She says to do this, you should completely strip your bed down, before vacuuming your mattress thoroughly to get rid of all the dead skin cells and dust.

Next, using a flour sieve, shake bicarbonate of soda evenly all over the mattress. This acts as an odour eater. Leave for a few hours at least and then vacuum it off. This should lift out any nasty smells.
