The Monkey is the ninth sign in the zodiac, and it’s a very lucky sign to be. Express.co.uk chatted to Feng Shui and Chinese astrology Expert Marites Allen (@maritesallen on Instagram) to find out everything you need to know about the Monkey.
The Chinese New Year starts on Friday, February 1, and the internet is flooded with New Year’s horoscopes for the 12 Chinese zodiac signs.

Monkeys are a popular animal and most people love them for their cheeky and energetic nature.
Marites has listed the strengths and weaknesses of Monkey-born people, and they sound very similar to the animal.

The Monkey is a playful animal known for being observant and inquisitive and those born in the year of the Monkey have the same qualities as their symbolic animal, Marites said.
She explained: “Monkey-born people have retentive memories and are forever on the look-out for new learning.
“They are very good conversationalists and enjoy healthy debates. Endowed with the gift of gab, they are persuasive in their speech and easily charm their listeners.
“They are generally warm and tend to be extroverts, which are a perfect match for careers in public relations, sales and marketing, and possibly teaching.”
People born in the Year of the Monkey have enviable abilities and wisdom, Marites said.
She noted: “Other people are always amazed at their acute intuition and foresight.
“Whatever goals they have established, they apply determined actions to achieve them.
“With their innate curiosity, they will try everything that interests them.
“They are highly popular because they are amiable and kind and always try their best to help others.”
Monkeys aren’t perfect though, they can be sneaky and often lull people into a false sense of security.
Marites said: “The wise Monkey, however, can be less forthright and honest when he comes up with a chance to make quick money or when he has to outsmart a rival.
“Some can use their intelligence and charming demeanour to lure people into following their plots and because of their friendly ways, it will not be evident that they have ulterior motives.”
