Claire Edwards, a 30-year-old lifestyle influencer from Arkansas, went viral on TikTok after sharing that she named her newborn son Oak Wilson
In the video, Claire shared some of the baby names she and her husband, Gray Edwards, considered but didn’t use, including what they would have named a baby girl
‘If Oak had been born a girl, his name would probably be Sunday,’ she explained.
‘I know some other influencers have used it recently, but that’s not a good enough reason to not use a name.’
Claire noted that she was also a fan of Arbor and would have considered naming her second child Sunday Arbor if he had been a baby girl.
‘Pepper. Oh, Pepper was up there,’ she continued. ‘Think of the nickname Pepperoncini when they’re a baby.
‘I love Kit solely for the nickname Kit Kat. About Time is our favorite movie and it’s the sister’s name and we just love it.’
Claire said there were only two other boy names they considered, Fox and Penn.
The mother of two recalled how Fox was ‘neck and neck’ with Oak because she liked that the name wouldn’t get confused for a more common moniker.
She shared that people often think her husband was saying Craig on the phone, and he had to explain that his name was ‘Gray, like the color.’

‘The other boy contender was Penn. I just think it’s cool — Penn Edwards.’
Claire admitted that she let her husband ‘believe Fern was on the shortlist for a girl,’ and she also gushed about how much she loved the names Ruby and Margot.
‘Oh my God, I wish everyone wasn’t naming their baby Margot because I love it so much. I honestly might still use it,’ she said.
She also likes ‘Becks for a boy or Beck for a girl.’
‘But in the end, we got our little Oakus Pocus,’ she concluded. ‘Good luck to everybody naming babies. I know it’s hard out here, but you’re gonna find something that’s going to be your perfect vibe.’
‘And give it a couple days,’ she advised. ‘We had to introduce him a few times before it was like, “Okay, yeah, that’s the one.”‘

Many commenters criticized the mom’s unusual name choices, but there were also plenty of fans of her ‘whimsical’ and ‘creative’ monikers
‘Imagine meeting a fully grown man called Oak,’ one person responded.
‘Why don’t parents ever consider what it will be like for that child as an adult? A full-grown adult named Fox?!’ another asked.
‘Sunday Arbor is a retirement home,’ someone else added.
Others said they were ‘lost for words’ and asked if the video was ‘satire.’
However, there were also plenty of fans who praised Claire for her ‘whimsical’ and ‘creative’ name choices.
‘Your names are my vibe — GIVE US MORE!!!’ one user commented.
‘Oakus Pocus is the cutest nickname I’ve ever heard omg,’ another gushed.
‘Obsessed with your baby name list,’ someone else shared.
Claire opened up about the special meaning behind her newborn son’s name on Instagram earlier this month.
‘We were stressed about naming my whole pregnancy. We really wanted a name that felt unique and meaningful and most of all, like US,’ she wrote. ‘Gray had recently been doing some woodworking with beautiful oak pieces and once it hit the top of our name list, I couldn’t stop seeing it everywhere.
‘The deep meaning here is — we like oak trees. I think it;s strong and sweet and I think our boy will be too,’ she continued.
‘Wilson is paying homage to the place we had our first date, got engaged & rented our first apartment — Wilson Park!
‘I am still working on finding a link to a Taylor lyric but trust I will. For now though you can find us celebrating the rest of Oaktober with a pumpkin beer and baby snuggles.’
