SNUGGLE UP: Adorn outdoor space with warm blankets and cushions — they will be perfect for cosying up, now that cooler evenings are here.

George at Asda sell fluffy throws for £5 — far cheaper than John Lewis’s for £40. And Argos has quilted outdoor cushions for just £3 each — a huge saving on those sold at Dunelm for £19.

FILM FUN: Open-air cinema screenings are popular but ticket prices are from £10 per person, so create your own. Wish.com currently has a range of mini home projectors starting from £22. Pick up four reusable popcorn boxes for £5.75 at amazon.co.uk and grab Butterkist’s Sweet Cinema popcorn for 90p, usually £1.70, at Sainsbury’s.

LIGHT UP: Get your garden glowing with a few outdoor lighting options — you don’t need to spend big bucks to brighten things up. Fairy lights are fun but at the moment I’m loving the Godafton LED block candles, £7 for two at Ikea. They’re fab for a cosy, flickering light like that from a real candle, but without a fire risk. They even have built-in timers.

Plus, they’re energy- efficient and last ten times longer than incandescent bulbs — perfect for decorating a patio with. Similar versions are £6 each at Waitrose.

SIT BACK: When it comes to entertaining, make sure your guests have somewhere comfortable to sit. I like the Seville three-piece rattan-effect garden furniture set, currently on Groupon for £99.98, down from £349.99. It’s available in four colours and you can jazz it up with your own cushions, or buy matching ones.
