Kate Middleton wears bargain £20 Zara skirt on latest outing – here’s how to shop the style

Kate Middleton is known for mixing designer pieces with affordable high street options, and her latest outfit is no exception, as it features a Zara skirt that cost just £20.

The Prince and Princess of Wales enjoyed an outing to the Brynawel Rehabilitation Centre for their last public engagement of the month today, and fans of Kate’s wardrobe will be excited to know one major item is from none other than high street fashion brand Zara. A long time fan of the Spanish brand, Kate can often be seen wearing pieces from the retailer to public events and appearances.

Looking elegant in a monochromatic outfit, Kate wore a chic cream coat with a white polo neck, pairing them with a black and white houndstooth skirt from Zara. She completed the look with black boots and gloves, and a classic white Amberley handbag from Mulberry.

The statement skirt has been a huge hit with Zara shoppers and is already sold out online thanks to its timeless shape and style, not to mention its £20 price tag. However, fans who are keen to replicate the chic black and white outfit don’t need to despair.

There are plenty of alternatives to help you copy the Royal’s style on a budget, whilst Resell Zara has some available for as little as £5.99.

This Zara pleated skirt is just£45.99and offers an almost identical cut and silhouette to the one Kate wore during her visit. With a high waist and a floaty A-line shape, the included belt helps to definite the waist, whilst the monochrome print mirrors Kate’s own Zara skirt.

There is also a matching blouse available, which when worn with the skirt gives the illusion of a midi dress, making it three outfits in one.

If you can’t get enough of the houndstooth print on the Princess’ skirt, this dogtooth midi skirt from The Pretty Dress Company is the perfect alternative. At just£69, it’s still budget friendly, and the combination of circle-style draping and bias cut means the mid-length skirt flows effortlessly, creating a chic, easy-to-wear look.

Houndstooth is a timeless print that goes with almost anything, and certainly seems to be Kate’s current pattern of choice after she was spotted wearing a red and white houndstooth coat to the Six Nations rugby match on Saturday.

To complete today’s outfit, Kate paired her minimalist look with a smoky eye and soft pink lipstick and wore her hair pushed back over her shoulders for a laid back and relaxed feel.

During the visit Kate and William were seen chatting with Brynawel Rehabilitation Centre’s executive director, Sue Gwyn, manager Grace Sansom, and the Welsh Government's minister for mental health and wellbeing, Lynne Neagle. They also said hello to residents, and met Ragna, the centre’s seven year old therapy dog.
