Inside Kylie Jenner’s sweet tribute to late friend Virgil at Met Gala

All eyes were on the Kar-Jenner clan at the Met Gala, as they arrived in a string of impressive outfits.

Kim Kardashian opted to emulate Marilyn Monroe in her iconic Happy Birthday Mr President dress, meanwhile Kylie donned a huge wedding gown and veil.

While some fans on social media have said the dress was Kylie's hint that she wants to get married to boyfriend Travis, the look actually has a very sweet meaning behind it.

Kylie's Met Gala tribute to late friend

Close to the Kar-Jenner clan was American fashion designer Virgil Abloh.

The designer died from cancer in November 2021, and the famous family have since paid various tributes to him.

In a very sweet tribute, Kylie took to Instagram to explain the reason behind her beautiful Met dress.

She shared: "virgil and i were supposed to go to the Met together before it got postponed in 2020. to celebrate V tonight and his incredible legacy truly means the world to me.

"I’m humbled to wear this dress and honor my talented beautiful friend. we felt you tonight Virgil and love you forever."

Taking to the comments, fans and friends of Kylie's gushed over the sweet tribute.

One wrote: "That is so special Ky," while another said: "his made me tear up.. he would have been so proud to see you in this moment! You looked beautiful."

The 41 year old was the creative director for Louis Vuitton and Off-White.

After his sad death, a statement was shared on his Instagram which read: "We are devastated to announce the passing of our beloved Virgil Abloh.

"He chose to endure his battle privately since his diagnosis in 2019, undergoing numerous challenging treatments, all while helming several significant institutions that span fashion, art, and culture.

He often said, ‘Everything I do is for the 17-year-old version of myself,’ believing deeply in the power of art to inspire future generations.”

Kylie teamed her marital look with a backwards baseball cap and veil while accessorising with dangling earrings.

The top half of Kylie's wedding-inspired dress looked like athleisurewear with its mesh, semi-sheer detailing and was printed with the word 'OFF', which stood for the designer Off-White.

The fashion brand's late designer, Virgil Abloh, designed the dress, and Kylie wore it in his honour.
