I'm worried my weight will make it difficult to get pregnant

DEAR DEIDE: I AM a 22-stone woman who works in a nursery. I long to have children of my own but I am not sure if I will be able to.

I have had this job for the past eight years. I love what I do and being with all the kids.

I am 30 and was overweight in my teenage years and early twenties.

But during the recent lockdowns I really piled on the pounds. I live with my parents and they are both overweight, too.

I want to lead a healthy lifestyle and although I haven’t got a boyfriend, I dream of getting married and having a family one day.

However, men just pass me by these days. Will my weight stop me from conceiving?

DEIDRE SAYS: Yes, it could do. You stand a better chance of conceiving if you are closer to a healthy weight.

At 22st you are also in danger of other health issues.

Working in a nursery requires some fitness, so losing weight would also help make your job easier.

I am sending you my support pack, Weight Worries, which will encourage you to be body-prepared when the time is right for you to start a family.
