I’m 17 and cheating on my boyfriend with my flirty history teacher who’s 26 — I feel so guilty – The Sun

DEAR DEIDRE: I AM having amazing sex with my school history teacher.

When he came on to me, I assumed it would be a one-off. But now he says he loves me.

He only joined the school this term and is the best teacher I have ever had, so understanding and supportive of everyone. I am 17 and he is 26.

I am in the sixth form, on track to do well in my A-levels and planning on going to university next year. I’ve been seeing my boyfriend, who is 19, for a year, and he understands I need to study lots.

A few weeks ago I stayed behind because I needed to talk to my teacher about a history essay I was struggling with.

He was different when we were on our own and I could tell he was flirting.

I couldn’t believe it when he actually came on to me. He asked for my number so he could text me later. I have to admit I was really flattered.

Topic of the day

I HAVE spoken to thousands of survivors of child sex abuse, and my e-leaflet Abused As A Child? explains some common long-term effects and where to find understanding support.

We started texting and I couldn’t take my eyes off him in class. He would catch my eye and keep smiling and winking at me.

Then he suggested we meet for a drink one Friday evening. I made an excuse not to see my boyfriend and met my teacher in a bar in a different area of town from where my mates go.

We were just like any other couple. We went to his house as his partner was away on work and we ended up having sex. It was just brilliant.

The next day he asked me to wait after lesson and said he’d love to have sex with me again. He is an amazing guy and the sex is great — but he is my teacher. I also feel guilty for cheating on my boyfriend.

I said I didn’t want sex with him one day recently and he’s been asking whether I am going off him or fancy someone else.

He says he loves me. I like him but I don’t think he’s The One.

DEIDRE SAYS: There are lots of reasons why you should stop this sexual relationship now. It is against the law for a teacher to have sex with a pupil who is under the age of 18.

He should have known better than even to start flirting with you and he’s clearly untrustworthy as he’s doing this behind his partner’s back.

It’s confusing you at a time when you should be able to focus on your studies and open friendships and relationships with your peers.

Obviously you should stop seeing him. But he’s behaving so irresponsibly and unprofessionally you should report him. Do you feel able to share what’s happened with your parents so they can support you?

If that doesn’t feel comfortable, start by talking in confidence to The Mix (themix.org.uk, 0808 808 4994) who are there for under-25s.
