I have a feeling the mother of my child is only with me because I have money

A week later we discovered she was pregnant, so I agreed to try again for the baby’s sake. Our daughter is now five months old. I am 25, she is 24. I have tried my hardest to make the relationship work but I am still not happy.

We are just not compatible. I have done everything right and she has never gone without, but I am sure she is not as happy as she makes out. I think we could parent a lot better separately but how do I end it?

DEIDRE SAYS: If you’re sure that you do not want to be with her, it is not fair on either of you to try to stay together.

My e-leaflet on Ending A Relationship will help you find the right words. You must do it face to face.

Children actually thrive better with parents who are separated and friends than with parents who are unhappily together.
You can both find support through Family Lives (familylives.org.uk, 0808 800 2222).
