Golden Globes 2021: Stars Who Took Home Their First Golden Globes This Year

Following some technical difficulties, Kaluuya accepted his first Golden Globe for best supporting actor in a motion picture for his performance in Judas and the Black Messiah. “I gave everything,” he said of his performance.

The Star Wars actor — who was also nominated for the first time this year — took home the Golden Globe for best supporting actor in a series, miniseries or television film on Sunday for his performance as Leroy Logan in Amazon’s anthology series Small Axe.

Catherine O’Hara

O’Hara took home her first Globe for best actress in a television series — comedy or musical for her role as Moira Rose in Schitt’s Creek. She thanked the father-son duo behind the series, Eugene and Daniel Levy, for “creating an inspiring, funny, beautiful family love story in which they let me wear 100 wigs and speak like an alien.”

Kemp Powers

The Soul co-director not only won his first Golden Globe this year, he also made history by becoming the first debut Black filmmaker to win the best motion picture – animated Golden Globe.

The 25-year-old took home her first Golden Globe for best actress in a television series – drama for her portrayal of Princess Diana on Netflix’s The Crown.

Jason Sudeikis

Sudeikis took home the award for best actor in a television series – comedy or musical for playing the titular role of Ted Lasso in the Apple TV+ series, Ted Lasso.

While he didn’t win the Golden Globe for best supporting actor, Levy did snag the Globe for best television series – musical or comedy for his show, Schitt’s Creek, which he wrote and created alongside his dad, Eugene Levy.

O’Connor won the Golden Globe for his performance as Prince Charles in The Crown, shouting out his fellow first-time winner and costar Emma Corrin in his acceptance speech.
