EXCLUSIVE: Alabama reveals 50th Anniversary Tour, dates and stops
Five decades into their career, Alabama members Randy Owen, Teddy Gentry and Jeff Cook still think country music feels so right. They’re planning to celebrate the band’s rich history on the road in 2019 with the people who made it possible – the fans.
Alabama will launch its 50th-anniversary tour in January. The first leg of the tour spans about 30 concerts scheduled through June with stops in Detroit, Indianapolis, Minneapolis, Pittsburgh, Myrtle Beach, S.C. and more. Tour support includes fellow Country Music Hall of Fame groups The Charlie Daniels Band and The Oak Ridge Boys in addition to The Marshall Tucker Band, Restless Heart, Chris Janson, Tracy Lawrence and Exile.
“It seems only a few days ago, but on the fourth of the July, it will be 50 years since me and Teddy went walking into Jeff’s little house,” Owen, the group’s singer, recalled. “We picked a little bit and we sang a song I’d written and we thought, ‘Wow, that’s pretty good.’”
