DIY fans transform plain-looking porch for just £18 – and it looks amazing

A couple has revealed how they managed to turn their dingy porch into a thing of beauty – for just £18.

Hari Josh, 25, and his partner Jamie decided to give their rather plain front entrance some TLC in time for the festive season.

Taking to their Instagram account, @house_number_twelve, the pair shared a video showing the transformation.

At first, the porch was a surrounded by uninspiring pale pink brickwork.

The first step involved cutting some plywood into strips and screwing them onto the wall.

Next, Hari explained they cable-tied faux foliage squares together.

For step 3, the couple added some fairy lights and tacked the pieces onto the wall.

To finish it off, they simply trimmed down the edges and their porch was complete.

Hard shared the incredible transformation on the DIY on a Budget Official Facebook group.

"Front porch glow up,” he wrote. “Absolutely amazed how this turned out. The total cost of this was just £18!!”

The faux foliage the couple used was free, but you can get similar ones for £3 from Ikea.

Home Bargains offers 100 battery-operated fairy lights for just £5.99 and you can pick up some good value plywood from B&Q.

The couple’s post has received more than 400 likes since it was shared last week.

“Omg this is unreal, well done,” one fan gushed. Another wrote: “This is magical.”

While a third added: “Wow, this is amazing.”

It comes after another DIY fan who was quoted £300 for a wood panelling feature managed to do it for half the price.
