Disney Plus Gives First Look at ‘The Mysterious Benedict Society’ (TV News Roundup)

To celebrate National Streaming Day, Disney Plus released a first look at its upcoming original series, “The Mysterious Benedict Society.”

Adapted from Trenton Lee Stewart’s best-selling books of the same name, the show follows the adventures of four gifted orphans who are recruited by the eccentric Mr. Benedict (Tony Hale) to save the world from his evil twin brother (also Hale).

Mr. Benedict enlists the children after they win a scholarship competition that demonstrated their capability of seeing the truth. Setting out to save mankind from a global crisis known as “The Emergency,” Reynie (Mystic Inscho), Sticky (Seth Carr), Kate (Emmy DeOliveira) and Constance (Marta Kessler) are tasked with infiltrating the mysterious L.I.VE. Institute to discover the truth behind the global crisis. The eclectic quartet come to discover their school headmaster, Dr. Curtain, appears to behind the worldwide panic and so they must devise a plan to defeat him.

“The Mysterious Benedict Society” also stars Kristen Schaal, Ryan Hurst, MaameYaa Boafo and Gia Sandhu, and comes from writer-creators Matt Manfredi and Phil Hay. It is executive produced by Sonar Entertainment, 20th Television, Jamie Tarses, Karen Kehela Sherwood, Deepak Nayar, James Bobin and Darren Swimmer and Todd Slavkin, who serve as showrunners.

 

LATE NIGHT

Yvonne Orji, Ryan Seacrest and Counting Crows will be on “Jimmy Kimmel Live,” while “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon” will have on Tina Fey, Mo Rocca and Dayglow, and Rob McElhenney, Ryan O’Connell and Brian Frasier-Moore will appear on “Late Night With Seth Meyers.”
