Dascha Polanco wears statement-making dress at Fashion Week bash

Top models and fashionistas descended on the Boom Boom Room at the Top of the Standard to celebrate the start of New York Fashion Week with a suave kickoff party hosted by E! Entertainment, Elle and IMG on Wednesday night.

Seen sipping cocktails and mingling with industry insiders were Sailor Brinkley Cook, Nina Garcia, Amelia and Delilah Belle Hamlin, Jason Wu, Devon Windsor, Halima Aden and Dascha Polanco, the latter of whom stole the spotlight with her sparkly, statement-making gown.

Designed by House of Mua Mua, the “Orange Is the New Black” star’s dress was emblazoned with the words, “I was young I needed the money” from top to bottom.

“There was a fashion shoot for guests to use right in the middle of the room that everyone was loving,” said one partygoer. “When Halima went up to pose for pics everyone was cheering her on. All eyes were on her.”

VIP guests snapped selfies and made the rounds for a few hours until sunset.

Ruby Aldridge deejayed the bash that was sponsored by Tresemmé.
