Asian woman’s face painted white by man posing as make-up artist in shop
Police are hunting a man who painted an Asian woman’s face white while posing as a bogus make-up artist.
The smartly-dressed man was stood by the make-up counter in a department store when he approached the woman at around 3.10pm on Sunday, December 9.
He offered her a free makeover and believing him to be genuine the Indonesian woman, aged in her 50s, agreed.
The yob then ‘roughly caked’ her face in white make-up before he was spotted and challenged by a member of staff and ran out.
The racially-aggravated assault caused the woman a great deal of irritation to her face.
The incident happened in Beales department store in Bournemouth, Dorset.
Police have now released a CCTV image of a man they want to speak to.
He appears to be in his 20s, with short brown hair and stubble, wearing a black top and coat and blue jeans at the time.
PC Alex Knapp, of Bournemouth Police, said: "The victim is understandably very upset by the incident and I am now in a position to issue a CCTV image of the man I would like to speak to in connection with the incident.
"I would ask that anyone with information, or who can identify the man pictured, to contact Dorset Police.
"We take take hate crime very seriously and we are carrying out a full investigation to identify the man responsible."
