We Now Know the Next Step of Amanda Bynes' Big Comeback

On the heels of covering Paper magazine’s annual “Break the Internet” issue wearing one of her own designs, Amanda Bynes seems to be making her fashion industry dreams a reality. The actress has trademarked the brand name “Vintage By Amanda Bynes” to potentially include clothing, accessories and more.

According to documents obtained by Us Weekly and first reported by The Blast, the She’s the Man star filed paperwork on October 12 to trademark “Vintage By Amanda Bynes” with the intention to produce and sell apparel (think: coats, crop tops, dresses, footwear, hats, headwear and the likes), jewelry (i.e. bracelets and charms) and beauty products.

While it is unclear if the midriff-baring crystal-adorned top she wore in her Paper magazine shoot is part of the collection, the piece does have a boho vibe that would fit into a vintage-inspired line.

Bynes, who remains under a conservatorship controlled by her mother, Lynn, has said that she is still interested in acting, but it looks like she’s also been plotting for a second act as well. She is currently finishing up her studies at the Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising in Los Angeles, where she is apparently a model student.

“Instructors love her. Love her,” Kathi Gilbert, FIDM’s assistant dean of admissions and one of Bynes’ advisers, told Paper. “She’s smart, she participates in class — she’s an amazing student.”

She’s been enrolled at the design school since 2014 (she said she applied after watching Lauren Conrad attend classes there during her time on The Hills), and Page Six reported that she is set to finish her degree by the end of the year, which could mean the time is right for her budding fashion venture.
