The six minutes before you have sex are the key to making it even more pleasurable, experts say

EXPERTS have revealed the very simple six minute rule you need to follow in order to instantly improve your sex life.

The “six minute rule” involves dedicating at LEAST that amount of time to foreplay before you get to the main event – particularly in heterosexual relationships.

A study of 1,500 Canadians found that people of all sexualities who participated in "pre-sex affectionate behaviour" which lasted at least six minutes were more likely to feel ‘very sexually satisfied.’

The research commissioned by Trojan condoms and the Sex Information and Education Council of Canada found that the majority of men agreed that they enjoyed the six minute rule, they could still reach an orgasm without compared to 61 per cent of women.

The rule of thumb goes that the longer the sexual experience, the more satisfied partners tend to feel .

But according Robin Milhausen, a sexuality professor at the University of Guelph, to you should be aiming for no less than six minutes of foreplay.

Speaking to Refinery 29 Mihausen said: “Six minutes is a critical time, people who are the most satisfied in their encounters are doing a variety of activities.”

"People who are the most satisfied in their encounters are doing a variety of activities.

"It’s a simple thing that people can do in their relationships that doesn't cost any money."

The study also found that 56 per cent of men and 55 per cent of women were more satisfied if they engaged in post-sex affectionate behaviour.
