Stylist reveals why she NEVER puts jeans in the washing machine & her alternative stops colour from fading

IF you're anything like us and spend your life in the same old pair of skinny jeans, then chances are you also avoid putting them in the washing machine at all costs.

Yes we know it's probably not very hygienic – but those first few days where you're moulding them to your body again are nothing short of painful.

But what if there was a way you could wash your jeans without all this faff? Well according to stylist Rayna Batal, there absolutely is.

Earlier this month, the expert urged her followers to stop putting their denim in the washing machine.

The TikTok star said: "Don’t do it. It affects the fit and the colour – they will fade, and they will never fit the same."

Instead, Rayna claimed FREEZING your jeans kills any bacteria while maintaining both the colour and shape.

She continued: "Throw them in a Ziplock bag and put them in the freezer for two days. Good as new."

Although she admitted it might sound "gross", Rayna said she uses this method on all her denim.

Not convinced? Well denim brand Levi's also recommends treating the odd stain individually rather than washing the whole item.

A spokesperson told the Independent: "Denim is a hard-wearing and durable fabric – it doesn't need to be washed as frequently as believed."

Meanwhile, Levi's CEO Chip Bergh told CNN in 2016 that he hasn't washed his jeans in 10 YEARS.

He explained: "I spot clean my jeans when they need to be washed. Worse case, I'll hand wash them."
