Reap the benefits of coffee and get your caffeine fix with three healthy options

GOOD news – research shows having a coffee is good for you and can prevent hearing loss because of its antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties. Decaffeinated does the job too.

I’ve looked at healthy ways to get your caffeine fix and our Beauty Editor puts primers to the test.

ANTIOXIDANTS

  • Exhale coffee, £7.95 for 225g, 14 cups, exhalecoffee.com – buy now

Exhale coffee has the same active antioxidant power as 12 punnets of blueberries, 1.2kg of kale or 55 oranges.

Two cups provide 17 per cent of your recommended dietary allowance of niacin.

It’s designed to reduce fatigue, combat stress, support brain function and regenerate cells.

Tastes smooth and not too strong. I loved it.

SUPERFOOD

  • Bondi Coffee, £18.74 for a reusable cup, seven sachets of Lean Green and seven of the intensive Workout Booster, hollandandbarrett.com – buy now

Bondi Coffee is described as the UK’s first superfood-infused coffee.

The Lean Green Blend contains a double shot plus B vitamins, guarana, green tea, Korean ginseng, spirulina and choline.

Great idea but I didn’t notice any results.

ENERGY

  • Revvies, £13.50 for 25 strips, amazon.co.uk – buy now

Revvies are energy strips that are used by some top athletes.

They melt on the tongue and are loaded with 40mg or 100mg of caffeine – you get 40mg on average in a coffee.

They take effect in five to ten minutes, are convenient and sugar-free and come in three flavours.

Be careful of 100mg – that’s a lot in one go.

BUDGET

  • Laura Mercier, Pure Canvas Blurring Primer, £17, 25ml, spacenk.com – buy now

A water-based primer designed for oily and combination skin types. It instantly mattified my skin and blurred out pores.

Antioxidant microalgae is used to condition and protect the skin, while powders absorb oil and diffuse light for a soft-focus finish.

The white cream absorbed instantly and skin looked more even, as well as being silky smooth for makeup application afterwards.

As well as this blurring primer, Laura Mercier offers four others to target specific skin requirements – hydrating, perfecting, iIlluminating and protecting primers.

MID-RANGE

  • YSL, Touche Éclat Blur Primer, £32, 30ml, boots.com – buy now

A transparent gel primer with tiny specks of gold shimmer and light-diffusing technology to illuminate the skin.

It feels like velvet and glides on easily, filling pores and fine lines to hide imperfections and even and brighten skin tone.

Foundation sits beautifully on top, but I also use this on makeup-free days as it greatly improves the appearance of bare skin.

LUXURY

  • Ren Clean Skincare Perfect Canvas Primer, £40, 30ml, renskincare.com – buy now

A priming serum to smooth and perfect skin. Only three drops are needed to cover the entire face and it absorbed completely, leaving the skin wonderfully soft.

Contains agave extract to smooth and mattify, probiotic extract to aid cell renewal and alpha-glucans to support healthy skin.

This reduced the appearance of pores and left my face feeling fresh, clean and ready for the day.

It seemed completely weightless compared with the other two products and the natural ingredients make it an excellent choice for sensitive skin types.
