The statuesque Kate Middleton is known for her timeless, classic fashion sense. While stepping out on Sunday at Alexandra Palace in London, Kate Middleton stunned in an elegant, floor-length lilac dress, as Prince William awarded five global thinkers an Earthshot Prize for their efforts to tackle the climate crisis. The Duchess of Cambridge will often wear bold and eye-catching designs.

Speaking exclusively to Express.co.uk, stylist Melita Latham said: “As quite a tall person, Kate easily allows the use of such straight lines.”

She added: “You just can’t help being ever so slightly envious of Kate’s remarkable figure.”

Environmentally conscious as ever, Kate opted to re-wear her iconic Alexander McQueen piece from 2011, which she donned for a BAFTA event.

But last week, when the couple met with schoolchildren as part of Generation Earthshot, Kate chose to wear a long green coat with a matching green short-sleeved sweater.

This was perfectly in keeping with the environment focus.

And this isn’t the first time Kate has opted for a bold, vibrant look at a public appearance.

In fact, Kate is known for her literal dressing.

In 2018, she was seen wearing a blue coat and dress, emblematic of a nurse’s uniform, to visit St Thomas’ Hospital, where she helped launch Nursing Now.

Melita argued that Kate is “surely our most ‘glam’ royal”. But who inspired her colourful clothing choices?

The Queen is also known for her love of bright colours, looking regal as ever in a lavish royal blue outfit at Royal Ascot’s Champions Day on Saturday.

In the 2016 documentary The Queen at 90, Sophie, Countess of Wessex, explained why her mother-in-law opts for such rich, opulent colours.

DON’T MISS:

“Don’t forget that when she turns up somewhere, the crowds are two, three, four, 10, 15 deep, and someone wants to be able to say they saw a bit of the Queen’s hat as she went passed.”

As she undertakes more royal duties, it appears that Kate is following in the Queen’s footsteps and refusing to blend into the background.

The Duchess may have done this by often wearing bold colours and designs when stepping out.

Royal fans can recreate the royals’ “spot on” yet “achievable” colourful look.

Melita added: “Out walking with William and the children, or on more formal engagements, her fashion is not only spot on, but is also achievable for all of us.”

“Yes it’s on point, but affordable at high street prices.”

The royal has been known to shop at Zara, GAP and ASOS.

“Hurrah for Kate, the Royal family member that inspires us ladies to look smart, feel comfortable and best of all confident.”

Earlier this month, global fashion giant Pretty Little Thing revealed just how popular her style is with her royal fans, with 92 percent of online reactions to the Duchess’ style being ones of ‘love’.
