Meghan Markle’s baby will boost UK economy by £1BILLION by fuelling sales of children’s clothes, toys and prams

Experts predict sales of stylish baby products will soar after the new royal’s arrival in April, as fans snap up the Duchess’ picks.

Meghan, 37, is known for her chic and stylish wardrobe, and it’s thought she’ll adopt a similar style for her first-born.

Professor Joshua Bamfield, director of the Centre for Retail Research, told Hello! Meghan’s baby could inject £1.25 billion into the economy over two years.

Royal fans will be keen to see what toys, clothes and accessories – including prams – the new mum chooses.

Professor Bamfield said: “Meghan and Harry are an attractive couple and their first child will naturally be of great public interest across the world.

"Meghan is known to have a keen sense of style and she will want to follow a distinctive line in baby products, shawls, baskets, infant clothes and even what toys are being used by her child.”

The UK will benefit most from the Baby Sussex effect, but sales are also expected to increase in the US as well.

Meghan is believed to have been kitting out the nursery for their child as part of the multi-million pound revamp of Frogmore Cottage, where she and Prince Harry will move ahead of the baby’s arrival.

The Duchess is said to have opted for a gender-neutral colour scheme of greys and white, as well as installing state-of-the-art technology.

The gender of the baby is yet to be revealed, although if their wardrobe is anything like their nursery, there will no tell-tale pinks or blues.

Professor Bamfield added: “As the child gets older, what he or she wears will be adopted by many other parents, photographed thousands of times and shared with others across the world.

“This pattern will be greatest in the first seven years of the child's life, but will continue probably for 20 years."

Meghan’s sister-in-law Kate Middleton, Duchess of Cambridge, had a similar effect with the birth of her children, Princes George and Louis and Princess Charlotte.

Entire websites are dedicated to copying the tots’ style, with Kate picking often picking budget-friendly items.

As Meghan displayed in Morocco, she’s still packing on the PDA with Prince Harry but an expert has warned it’s beginning to irritate the public.

Despite the couple being loved up now, Prince Harry was reportedly ‘lonely’ before meeting Meghan Markle.

And kicking off the boost to the economy, here’s where to get your hands of Meghan’s crib for less.
