PRINCE Harry "could return to the UK" for a new role when Charles ascends to the throne, the Duke's former protection officer claims.
The Duke quit the UK in 2020 for a new life in the US with Meghan and son Archie after the couple stepped down as senior royals.
Speaking on the Pod Save the Queen podcast, the Duke's former police protection officer Ken Wharfe revealed he thought the Duke could return home for a new role.
When asked if the Sussexes ever come back to the UK to live, Ken, who has written a new book called Diana: Remembering the Princess, told The Mirror: "Personally I do and I base that on gut reaction really. I just cannot see them forever more living in California.
"It's clear to me that Harry is not quite a fish out of sea – I mean he is getting involved in charitable work and he has these attachments to Netflix and other companies but quite where they'll end up we don't know.
"But I just think his involvement with his military charities – quite how he runs that on the other side of the Atlantic, I don't know.
"But I just have this feeling that he could well be back in a new role, with or without Meghan – I honestly don't know.
"But to answer your question, I do think he will be back in some form as part of his father's plan for trimming down the monarchy because within the next decade that is going to happen."
Since Meghan and Harry quit the Firm, William and Kate’s charity has gone from strength to strength since they split with Harry and Meghan, new figures show.
Income for The Royal Foundation of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge leapt from £6.7million in 2019 to £20.4million in 2021.
Finally, the coverage of Megxit, Harry and Meghan’s decision to quit their royal duties, was very similar to the media’s treatment of Princess Diana, claims a filmmaker.
Ed Perkins, the director of HBO’s The Princess, tells PEOPLE he felt those parallels as he made his upcoming documentary.
“For a space of about a month or two, it seemed like [Harry and Meghan] were the only thing people were talking about,” Perkins says. “Very few people were apathetic and it reminded me of the response I was seeing in the archive from 25, 30 years previously, where, for the entirety of Diana’s public life, we were dissecting everything.”
“People had strong polarised opinions all the way throughout her life and after her death, and it did feel interesting that there was a sort of similar national conversation happening 25 years later,” he continues.

Royal commentator lambasts Harry’s UN performance
Prince Harry’s performance at the UN has come under attack by a royal commentator.
Writing for Sky News Australia, commentator Daisy Cousens highlighted that despite "lamenting a 'global assault' on democracy and freedom," he then went on to tell the audience "transformative measures" were necessary to reverse climate change and that such action was "not up for debate".
"A sentiment that, needless to say, embodies neither democracy nor freedom," she added.

Prince Harry is facing the likelihood of a new royal book that could hinder his narrative, a royal commentator has suggested.
The Duke of Sussex has previously attacked "men in grey suits" who work behind the scenes for members of the Royal Family.
Express Online reports that established royal journalist Valentine Low has penned new book Courtiers, which has seen him speak to a number of palace aides and could contradict Harry’s side of the story.

Trump would be better for UK than Duchess in White House, according to poll
Meghan Markle has been embarrassed again in a new poll which states British voters believe that Donald Trump as President would be better for the UK than if she made a successful bid for the White House.
The revelation in an exclusive Techne UK poll for Express.co.uk follows one from the US earlier this week which also revealed American voters would choose the former President over her.
This is despite surging support for the Duchess of Sussex to make a White House bid among Democrats.

Dr Shola ANGRY at Royal Family as Andrew keeping security while Harry goes without
Dr Shola Mos-Shogbamimu was furious after it was reported Prince Andrew still receives police protection while Harry and Meghan go without.
According to Express Online, it comes following reports Andrew's security is costing taxpayers an incredible £400,000 a year.
Dr Shola tweeted: "Disgraced Prince Andrew receiving tax funded security while Prince Harry fights to have good security for his family in UK is cruel and unjustified."
She added that it was "unacceptable" that the Duke of York, who was stripped of his military titles and royal patronages, continues to have Scotland Yard protection.

Royal expert Richard Palmer ‘suspects’ that Prince Harry is struggling with life in the US.

Wills and Kate will head to Boston, Massachusetts, this winter, for their exciting new foundation.

Royal experts say Meghan Markle will still be a princess, if Prince Harry didn’t have a Dukedom.
Marlene Koenig, a royal historian, told Insider: Of course Meghan is a princess.
“She would be styled as Princess Henry if Harry did not have a Dukedom.”
Prince Harry and Meghan chose the Duke and Duchess title, like Prince William and Kate did, as it is ranked higher than prince and princess.
The expert went on to explain that “princess” and “prince” are listed as their occupations on their children’s birth certificates.

The princes both shared a home together during their twenties, renting a cottage together near Shropshire.
In an interview for the BBC way back in 2009, reportedly William opened up about Harry’s hilarious habit.
He said: “He snores a lot too, he keeps me up all night!” William joked.
Harry hilariously quipped: “Well done, they’ll think we’re sharing a bed.”
William then admitted: “Bearing in mind I cook, I feed him every day, I think he’s done very well!”

What TV shows has Meghan starred in?

Prince Harry won’t ‘approve’ of Princess Diana’s portrayal in The Crown’s new series
Season five of The Crown will launch later on this year, as well as a Lady Di documentary, and the Princes’ new memoir.
Royal experts believe the storyline will ruffle a few feathers in the Sussex household.
Tina Brown told the Daily Express: “I don’t think that the next season of The Crown is going to be something that Harry is going to seriously approve of.”
She continued: “We don’t know how it will depict his mother. But right now, there’s nothing that’s come out about their mother that they like.”
The upcoming season will cover the death of Lady Diana, who passed away following a horror car accident in 1997.
This could make the upcoming season the most controversial yet, when factoring Channel 4 will also be launching an investigative documentary into the theories surrounding her tragic death.
