I put Kool-Aid in my toilet – it's a great hack for saving money, the internet has taught me more than school ever did | The Sun

A THRIFTY man has shared that incorporating Kool-Aid into his toilet water helped him save money.

For him, the internet seems to be a gold mine for learning new tips and tricks.

Over on social media, Jordan (@jordan_the_stallion8) responded to a TikTok trend that asks users to share the life hack they randomly stumbled upon one day that is now standard practice in their day-to-day.

"That putting Kool-Aid in my toilets will save me money," Jordan said.

"I literally just learned this not too long ago on the internet because the internet has taught me more than school will ever teach me at this point.

"So basically you guys know how every single toilet has a back compartment?" he questioned.

He showed his toilet to give a visual of what he was referring to.

"Well if you were to lift that compartment up and put Kool-Aid into water that's under that compartment.

"Put the Kool-Aid in that water, all you have to do is wait a couple of hours and then go back to your toilet and lift the toilet seat up.

"If the water is the same color as the Kool-Aid that you put into it, that means that you have a leak in your toilet and that's why your water bill is so high right now.

"Get the leak fixed, it will save you that much money," he concluded.

Some TikTok users were grateful for the hack, while others that were more familiar with the topic gave suggestions.

"You just gave me a way to get rid of the flavors I don't like AND verify my toilets are working correctly. Thank you, sir!" one thankful person said.

"As a plumber, we use food dye, just a few drops," a third added.

And with some more words of advice, a final person said: "If it's leaking that much you'll hear it refilling when not being flushed once the float gets low."
