I filled my freezer with bargain meat from Waitrose – I spent £35 & they even let me in on the best time to shop | The Sun

A SAVVY shopper has revealed the best time to shop after bagging lots of bargain meat for her freezer.

We all love to save money, and one woman couldn't help but share her bargain food haul from Waitrose.


Taking to Facebook, the mum couldn't believe her luck when she stepped into the supermarket and got a tonne of meat reduced so she could stock her freezer up.

She shared her haul in the Yellow Sticker Society group and penned: "Not been so lucky in a while… but 3pm today I was!

"Waitrose – the meat counter was good too – always worth asking for a bargain!

"Had 4 sea bass for £4 not pictured & hake too! The lady was happy it was coming home to the freezer!

"Happy hunting!"

In the pictures, she showed off all the meat she bought to stuff her freezer with including, three packs of lamb shoulder for £2.25 each, two packs of lamb cutlets for £2.30 and £2.89, and a venison joint for £4.90.

She also picked up chicken drumsticks for £1.22, Korean-style wings for £2.99, two packs of organic sausages for £1.79, another pack for £1.15, and a chicken breast joint for £2.15.

The woman picked up lots of other bits on clearance form the look of her photos, however, it wasn't clear how much she paid for those items.

One group member asked the woman how she bagged the bargains, writing: "When you say it worth asking for a bargain what do you do? Do you ask at the counter if they have yellow stickers in the back or something?"

She shared that she always asks the counter if anything is going out of date, and they tend to yellow-sticker the items for her.

The savvy woman wrote: "At the meat/fish counter I always say- I’m
looking for bargains to fill my freezer.

"The people are usually really helpful – as what they don’t sell, they bin.

"I ask after 3 on a Sunday & 5 on a weekday," she added.

People were stunned by her bargain buys and congratulated her on her finds.

One person wrote: "That is one posh bargain."

Another commented: "Hit the jackpot there, well done."

"Nice one," penned a third.

Meanwhile a fourth said: "Well done."
