G-SHOCK Gives Its Full Metal 5000 a Fiery-Red Makeover

Revisiting one of the fan-favorites in its massive inventory of robust watches, G-SHOCK is now kickstarting 2021 with a vibrant, fiery red edition of its Full Metal 5000 line.

The reflective red hue of the upcoming GMW-B5000RD-4JF was achieved using an ion-playing Bordeau IP finish, applied uniformly on both the stainless steel case as well as the linked bracelet. The dial itself comes in black to provide a striking contrast with the rest of the watch, while a dark shaded ring surrounds the watch face for a seamless transitioning of the tones.

Of course, as a G-SHOCK, it features all the standard tech and gadgets that give the brand its utilitarian reputation. Aside from being shock-proof, the watch boasts solar-charging for its 10-hour battery life, carries a multi-function alarm, an illuminating backlight, and even Bluetooth connectivity to your smartphone to sync your times with the Internet.

For those interested, the new red Full Metal 5000 will be available over on G-SHOCK’s Japanese website sometime this month, retailing for ¥70,000 JPY ($680 USD).

Elsewhere in watches, MOUT RECON TAILOR has joined Naval Watch Company and LOWERCASE for a vintage military-inspired timepiece.
