Disney has released their iconic churro recipe so now you can make them yourself in lockdown

WHILE Disneyland theme parks are said to be the happiest place on earth, we'd argue that their famous churro bites will give you all the happiness you need – especially during lockdown.

And it seems Disney Parks has answered our prayers and released the exact recipe used to create the miniature churros sold in Disney parks worldwide, so now churro fans can make them at home.

Disney shared the recipe on the Disney Parks blog, along with a video showing exactly how it's done.

And even if you haven't been fortunate enough to visit Disneyland yourself, these churros are well worth the time spent in the kitchen.

The recipe is said to serve four people, but we won't blame you if you consume them all yourself.

After all, who can resist a churro with all it's crispy fried-dough and cinnamon glory – have we got your attention now?

Disney Churro Bites

Ingredients

  • 1 cup water
  • 8 tablespoons butter
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • ¾ teaspoon ground cinnamon, divided
  • 1 ¼ cups all-purpose flour
  • 3 eggs
  • 1 ½ cups vegetable or canola oil
  • ½ cup sugar

The recipe says you'll need butter, salt ground cinnamon, all-purpose flour, eggs, vegetable or canola oil and sugar.

The good news is that these are all  ingredients commonly found in your supermarket. –  and you might even have them all already.

To make them, you'll need to combine the butter, salt, and ¼ teaspoon cinnamon with water in a saucepan over medium heat and bring to a rolling boil.

Reduce the heat to low and add the flour, stirring vigorously until the mixture forms a ball.

Next you'll need to remove the dough ball  from the heat and let it rest for five to seven minutes.

Once that's done, add the eggs, one at a time, and stir until combined.

At this point you can set it to the side, but don't worry, you'll come back to it later.

Next you'll need to heat oil in medium skillet, or 1-quart, saucepan over medium-high heat or until temperature reaches 350degrees.

Spoon dough into piping bag and fit it with a large star tip.

Squeeze the pipe to form 1-inch strips of dough over saucepan, cut with knife, and drop into hot oil – or you can make them longer for more traditional churros.

Once the pan is full,  you'll see the churro bites begin to brown, so remove them with a slotted spoon or mesh spider strainer once the pieces are crispy and golden in colour .

Once removing them from the oil, drain the churro bites on some kitchen roll

Now all that's left to do is toss them in a little (or a lot) of cinnamon until they're completely coated.

And then you'll have the most prefect, most delicious sweet treat to enjoy with your favourite dipping sauce (we recommend chocolate) or simply have them on their own.

We'd also recommend making double the amount, because they are so good that they'll be snapped up in no time.
