Cleaning fan slammed for ‘dangerous’ tablet hack which she claims leaves home smelling like fresh laundry

A CLEANING fan has been slammed for sharing a “dangerous” laundry tablet hack which leaves your home smelling fresh.

Chantelle Moitie, who posts on TikTok under @chantellelovetoclean, showed how she dissolves a laundry detergent tablet in boiling water, before adding it to a spray bottle.

Then she goes round her home and sprays it on the sofa, curtains and furniture to leave it smelling like clean laundry.

Although her video racked up over 21million views and 1.3million likes, many people slammed it as dangerous.

One person wrote: “What…no. It’s not a fragrance, it’s a flammable cleaning product.”

Another said: “Just NO. It’s not designed to be inhaled.”

Other people said they prefer to use fabric conditioner mixed with warm water in a bottle.

And some pointed out that she could simply have used Febreze Fabric Spray to create the same effect.

Some fabric softeners can actually "increase fabric flammability" and using more than the "recommended" amount could further increase the risk.

It warns against using the product on "children's sleepwear or garments labelled as flame resistant" as it may reduce flame resistance.

Laundry expert Deyan Dimitrov, CEO of Laundryheap, told Fabulous Digital: "Using fabric softener can dramatically reduce the flame resistance of baby clothing and other materials.

"The Flammable Fabrics Act of 1953 revealed that fabric softener can reduce the flame resistance of textiles due to the build-up of chemicals present. This is because fabric softeners contain emulsifiers and alcohol ethoxylates, both of which are flammable."
