Bride left fuming after her sister-in-law schedules a C-section on the same day as her wedding – The Sun
A BRIDE was left seething after her sister-in-law scheduled a C-section on the same day as her wedding.
The woman took to Reddit to rant about the situation, revealing that her relative had previously double-booked her baby shower with her bridal shower.
In the woman's post, she explained that she and her fiancé had got engaged in November 2018 and planned a June wedding.
A few weeks later, her sister-in-law revealed she was pregnant.
The bride – from America – wrote: "My sister-in-law is still very young and she grew up very spoiled. She's still very self-centred but since her pregnancy she has started maturing.
"Despite our personality differences she and I have grown sort of close. I was genuinely excited about the baby."
However, things started to sour between the pair when it came to the poster's bridal shower.
She continued: "My mum wanted me to have a wedding shower so I picked late May. I sent out invites for May 19.
"About two weeks before my shower my sister-in-law sent out invites for her baby shower – for May 19.
"My husband's relatives who I had invited and who had RSVPed to my shower skipped my shower for her's.
"Sister-in-law showed up at my shower in the last hour wearing a white dress, a tiara and a pink satin sash over her chest."
Unfortunately, things only got worse from there. The woman explained: "Husband and I picked June 8 for the wedding. We had everything set up, everything paid for, a church and a minister, reception hall. It was all set and ready to go.
"About a week before my wedding sister-in-law announces that she scheduled her C-section for June 8.
"She's not ill nor is the baby at risk, but sister-in-law has a placenta condition that makes vaginal birth dangerous."
Husband and I picked June 8 for the wedding. We had everything set up, everything paid for, a church and a minister, reception hall. It was all set and ready to go. About a week before my wedding, my sister-in-law announces that she scheduled her C-section for June 8.
The bride added that her relative's due date had been June 14, and that her doctor had "wanted to do the surgery on June 12 but she insisted on June 8".
Heart-wrenchingly for the woman and her fiancé, her mother and father-in-law said "if they had to choose between their first grandchild and the wedding they'd choose the baby".
She wrote: "Then his grandparents, his three aunts and two uncles and several cousins all said they wanted to be at the hospital for the baby.
"This family is incredibly close-knit and babies are a big effing deal for them. Then a bunch of their family friends got wind that these relatives weren't attending and backed out as well."
The woman's sister-in-law safely delivered a baby girl on June 8, but her husband was "still hurting" at the time and didn't meet the baby until she was three weeks-old.
The poster admits that she "went off" at her sister-in-law before the birth, stating: "I have yet to meet the baby."
She ended her post: "Am I the a**hole for going off on her and refusing to go meet my new niece?"
In more wedding news, a bride-to-be blasted her fiancé for her "tiny" engagement ring – and others say they'd be "insulted" to receive it.
Another future bride tried on budget wedding dresses from the Internetto see what they really look like – and one left her VERY exposed.
And a woman who proudly showed off her engagement ring was slammed for "Spongebob Squarepants" nails.
