Zendaya Hopes This Red Carpet Outfit "Will Still Fit" When She's 80
InStyle's September cover shoot — our first on a working set since the pandemic began — was made even more remarkable by Zendaya, who celebrated Black talent, from the photographers and glam team behind the scenes to the designers she wore in front of the camera. The actress modeled colorful pieces from brands like Hanifa, Pyer Moss, and Victor Glemaud, handpicked by her longtime stylist, Law Roach.
As ’90s R&B hits blasted, a drone flying overhead helped capture the most breathtaking moment of the day: Zendaya posing on a windy Malibu rooftop wearing a voluminous Christopher John Rogers ensemble, petticoat included. “At one point, I thought she was going to be lifted into the air like Dorothy in The Wizard of Oz,” recalled Roach. Although Zendaya technically kept her feet on the ground, there was still an element of magic to the shoot. “Being reunited was beautiful,” said Roach. “It felt like a homecoming of sorts.”
While our shoot with Zendaya was one to remember, we've long admired how talented, bold, and relatable she is. And, of course, her killer sense of style doesn't hurt. We asked our September cover star to fill us in on everything she's loving right now, from the beauty essentials getting her through quarantine to the red carpet look she dreams of re-wearing someday.
