Wendy Williams Apologizes For Bizarre Behavior, Blames Slurred Speech On Pain Meds

Wendy Williams has been acting strange for weeks: slurring her speech, tumbling onstage and calling off work for secret health reasons. But now that her bizarre behavior has become increasingly noticeable to show viewers, the host is finally addressing her condition.

This Thursday, Williams, 54, wrote a lengthy Instagram statement apologizing to fans for her subpar segment. Viewers know the TV star slurred her words through most of her hot topics section, forcing producers to run several pre-taped clips.

To My Wendy Watchers, I sincerely apologize if you feel that today's show was less than stellar. I’m on your TV screens every day wanting to spread laughter, entertainment and cheer. As I reported earlier in the week, I have a hairline fracture on my upper arm, which hurts like hell. I’ve never broken a bone or experienced a fracture in my life. In the key place where the fracture is, and trying to scurry around and do too much, I am now paying the price. I've never taken a pain medication in my life (except when I got snatched over 20 years ago) until this week. I did that to power through and try to deliver a great show for you, against the better judgement of the many people around me who genuinely care for my well-being. I really do ride or die for my craft and give 200%. Not to mention everyone is aware at this point about my thyroid condition (don’t cry for me Argentina). For all my fellow thyroid sufferers, you know what the deal is. And for those that don’t: I encourage you to please read up. Needless to say, whatever today's performance was with the legendary The Lox, who said such nice things, I have no regrets and I appreciate everyone’s genuine concern for my wellness and care. I promise you a better Wendy in 2019. I will get some much needed rest and healing over these next couple of weeks. (Yes I am definitely juicing over the next couple of weeks). Sorry again. I love you all. Happy Holidays!

“I sincerely apologize if you feel that today’s show was less than stellar. I’m on your TV screens every day wanting to spread laughter, entertainment and cheer. As I reported earlier in the week, I have a hairline fracture on my upper arm, which hurts like hell,” Williams explained, adding that she’d never broken anything in her life and is in extreme pain.

“I’ve never taken a pain medication in my life (except when I got snatched over 20 years ago) until this week,” she continued, seemingly suggesting that the powerful meds were the cause behind her wild speech problems and behavior.

“I did that to power through and try to deliver a great show for you, against the better judgement of the many people around me who genuinely care for my well-being. I really do ride or die for my craft and give 200%.”

The Wendy Williams Show host added that her recent troubles have also stemmed from her thyroid condition.

“Needless to say, whatever today’s performance was with the legendary The Lox, who said such nice things, I have no regrets and I appreciate everyone’s genuine concern for my wellness and care,” wrote Williams. “I promise you a better Wendy in 2019. I will get some much needed rest and healing over these next couple of weeks. (Yes I am definitely juicing over the next couple of weeks). Sorry again. I love you all. Happy Holidays!”

Despite her apology and statement, RadarOnline.com readers know the show host has been on a scary downward spiral for some time now. After collapsing onstage on Halloween 2017, she’s been acting strange and out of it — and even her closest friends are worried!

“Something bad is going on with Wendy,” a source very close to the TV star told Radar exclusively, adding that the December 17 episode was canceled last minute and replaced with a rerun.

The insider said that Williams has been exhibiting strange behavior “for weeks,” though the host herself has continued to deny anything is wrong, other than a few minor ailments.

Earlier this year, she fired back at haters who accused her of sitting too much during her show.

“I don’t just sit here, I’ve been sitting in the audience, I sit to do demo projects as well. You know why? Cause I want to!” she told the audience. “Cause this is my show, and this is how I want to do it. I bust my a** on this show, every single day.”

Regardless, friends and business associates “have been concerned about her in recent weeks,” the insider told Radar. “She can barely stand at times, and has totally checked out. It’s a major problem.”
