Taylor Swift Lands One Of The Covers For The ‘TIME’ 100 Most Influential People Issue!

TIME has named the 100 most influential people of 2019!

And after her record-breaking Reputation stadium tour touched fans across the globe, Taylor Swift scored herself a spot on the publication’s list AND a spot as one of their cover stars, too!

For those who may need a refresher, TIME drops this prestigious list once a year — honoring the pioneers, leaders, artists, and icons that have left their mark on this world in their own inspiring way.

Inside the issue, each honoree is written about by their colleagues, friends, or other famous admirers.

In this case, fellow singer-songwriter and former 2018 TIME 100 list member Shawn Mendes stepped up to pen some beautiful words about the Blank Space singer.

But first, see Taylor’s very angelic and beautiful cover (below):

@taylorswift is one of the 100 most influential people of 2019. "The magic of Taylor Swift doesn’t come from the lights, dancers or fireworks (although all of that is incredible)," writes @shawnmendes, "but from the electrifying connection that she has with the people who are there to see her." And her spread:

Gorgeous!

In his own words, Mendes explains just how long he’s been a fan of the 29-year-old mega star:

“I’ve been a Taylor Swift fan for as long as I can remember. But it wasn’t until I met and got to know her that I understood how wonderful a person she truly is.

Taylor makes the job of creating music for millions of people look easy. It all comes from her—her belief in magic and love, and her ability to be as honest and raw as possible. She’s the master of putting the perfect amount of thought into not overthinking, and that’s why her music connects so well.”

Shawn also shares that going on tour with Taylor back in 2015 for a few shows as her opening act really allowed him to see and almost feel her tangible impact on fans:

“I was so lucky to be able to open for a handful of her stadium shows on the 1989 World Tour. And I quickly learned that the magic of Taylor Swift doesn’t come from the lights, dancers or fireworks (although all of that is incredible) but from the electrifying connection that she has with the people who are there to see her. There’s an overwhelming feeling in the air. The feeling of your heart racing in your chest with excitement—so much so that by the time you get to “Love Story,” all you want to do is pick up your phone and text every person you know to say how much you love them. The feeling is so thick, you feel like you could reach out and grab it to keep forever.”

The Treat You Better singer wraps things up by describing his dear friend in a nut shell:

“Taylor makes anyone older feel young again and anyone young feel they can do anything. It’s so rare and so special. If there is one thing I want to achieve in my career and life, it’s that.”

How sweet! But we are so glad to see Swift on this list, for more reasons than just her music.

Over the last year, we’ve seen her speak up and rally her fans for political change, and consistently use her massive platform and reach as an artist to spread a little cheer whenever possible. So, well deserved!

It’s been reported that Swift will also perform at the TIME 100 Gala celebration, alongside Khalid, on April 23.

Celebs and public figures like Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson (profiled by Gal Gadot), Lady GaGa (profiled by Celine Dion), Ariana Grande (profiled by Troye Sivan) and Michelle Obama (profiled by Beyoncé Knowles-Carter) were also recognized..

What do YOU guys think about this year’s group? All well deserved, or was your favorite public figure snubbed?
