Strictly Come Dancing professional Luba Mushtuk, 33, revealed her surprise career change in an exclusive interview with Express.co.uk. The Russian dancer has been taking acting classes every week as she follows her dream to be a movie star.

As she works on mastering the craft, Luba has sought advice from her close friend, Rose Ayling-Ellis.

Rose, who won the 2021 series of Strictly, played Frankie Lewis on EastEnders for two years and has been giving Luba some tips.

Luba said: “Rose is one of my best friends and obviously she shares the passion for acting. She is extremely happy that I started acting.

“Sometimes we just read it together; maybe I am working on one scene and she’ll help me and read it through and give me a few notes.”

Luba is doing two acting classes a week alongside travelling the country with the Strictly Live Tour.

On how they are going, Luba continued: “The classes are going great, it’s going fantastic.

“It is very challenging and I find it is so personal because there are a lot of emotions and a lot of things that you need to dig.

“I find it interesting that one day one scene can go phenomenal, and then the next day it just doesn’t feel the same.

“So, I am in the process of trying to find the correct technique that will work for me because obviously it is very new to me.”

Luba started taking the classes in September but says she is a “bit sad” that she didn’t start earlier because acting has been her dream for around 10 years.

As for what she hopes for the future of her career, the blonde beauty continued: “Obviously, the dream would be to do like a dance movie, imagine that?

“I can dance, I can act – I hope I can act by that time – but that would be the dream role.

“But if not, obviously I will not be very picky, trust me, there will be any kind of possibility. But I think I would rather start with a movie because I think theatre is much, much harder.”

Luba and her fellow Strictly stars are currently in Newcastle and will head to London, Belfast and Glasgow in the coming weeks.

She said it is “going great” and that she is loving performing for the “amazing” audiences.

Also joining her on the tour are Hamza Yassin, Helen Skelton, Fleur East, Will Mellor, Molly Rainford, Ellie Simmonds and Tyler West.

Dianne Buswell, Amy Dowden and Neil Jones are also among the pros taking to the stage.

Anton Du Beke, Shirley Ballas and Craig Revel Horwood have also returned as judges and Janette Manrara is the host.
