PETA isn’t happy with Priyanka Chopra and Nick Jonas’ wedding

PETA could’ve done without the animals at Priyanka Chopra and Nick Jonas‘ wedding.

The couple wed in two ceremonies — one Western and one traditional Hindu —  over the weekend, but it was the animal participation in the latter ceremony that has PETA upset. A fan site posted a photo of a white horse outfitted in red and gold, which the former Jonas Brother used to make his grand entrance. A white elephant was also spotted with a seat for two on its back.

“Priyanka was ill-served by not being advised of the firestorm that would be caused by participating in animal abuse,” PETA India CEO Manilal Valliyate said in a statement. “It doesn’t make a person look big or glamorous to promote cruelty to animals who have no choice but to serve. It makes them look small.”

The animal protection organization is, however, pleased to see more celebrities taking an interest in animal welfare.

“Overwhelmingly, these days, PETA is delighted to see so many celebrities who feel passionately about protecting animals.”

Chopra wore a red sari for the Hindu ceremony, while Jonas looked handsome in a turban and traditional garb. For their Western wedding reception, both the bride and groom wore Ralph Lauren.

They also celebrated their nuptials with a pre-wedding dance-off.
