Nigella Lawson, 60, responded to claims that she “fake gorges” the food she makes for the camera in a bid to stay trim. The chef found the accusation pretty funny, warning the Twitter user behind it that her crew would find it even funnier because they know the truth.

That comment is going to make my crew bark with laughter

After an appearance on Sunday Brunch, Nigella whipped up a delicious host of meals that left viewers’ mouths watering.

But some were concentrating on how she manages to keep herself in shape when she’s constantly surrounded by food.

“How on earth does @Nigella_Lawson stay slim?” one gobsmacked fan questioned.

“So far she’s made crab mac’n cheese & chocolate cookies. It’s not fair!”

While others agreed with the observation, someone else believed it was all for show.

“She doesn’t eat any of it,” they retorted.

“The fake gorging is only for the camera.”

Before long, Nigella caught site of the claim and thought she better set the record straight.

“That comment is going to make my crew bark with laughter,” she scoffed, knowing full well that her actions are not just for telly.

Elsewhere, the cooking sensation caused a frenzy online following a clip of her pronouncing “microwave” went viral.

The internet was in a shambles after an episode of her new cooking show Eat, Cook, Repeat, saw the chef explain the steps on how to make brown butter colcannon before the interesting pronunciation slipped from her mouth.

“I still need a bit of milk, full fat, that I’ve warmed in the microwave [mee-krow-wah-vay]” she said in the clip.

And it didn’t take long before the humour exploded on social media, causing Nigella to take to her own official Twitter account to address the heat.

Responding to one user’s question as to whether or not she actually says “mee-krow-wah-vay,” she admitted that it’s how she pronounces it when by herself.

“Well, I do say it like that, but not because I think that’s how it’s actually pronounced,” she said matter-of-factly.

“Can this be the end of it now?” she pleaded.

Little did she know, there would be a lot more fun to be had before the internet let it go.

Another Twitter user poked fun at the chef by suggesting a collaboration between her and IKEA, accompanying their joke with an image of a “MEEKRO WAHVE Milk Warmer.”

Taking it on the chin, Nigella laughed it off and reposted it to her own followers with the caption: “I know I said enough now, but I couldn’t resist.”
