Miley Cyrus Opened Up About Her "Very Public" Divorce From Liam Hemsworth

Miley Cyrus and Liam Hemsworth's split may have been shocking for the rest of the world, but the singer says there's way more to the story.

In a new interview on the Joe Rogan Experience podcast, Cyrus discussed going through a "very public divorce," telling the host that the experience "f—king sucked."

"What really sucked about it wasn’t the fact that me and someone that I loved realized that we don’t love each other the way that we used to anymore," she said. "That’s okay, I can accept that. I can’t accept the villainizing and just all those stories."

The "Midnight Sky" singer added that her relationship with Kaitlynn Carter following the divorce didn't happen overnight, despite what people may think.

"It’s just amazing to me that the public kind of thinks that there is no gap in time that they didn’t see that could possibly be what led to this," she said. "Like, it’s not, ‘One day you were happy on the carpet, and the next you’re making out with your friend in Italy,' what the f—?"

She added, "Well, there was a lot of time between that you didn’t see."

Cyrus and Hemsworth announced their split last August after eight months of marriage and about a decade together on-and-off; Hemsworth filed for divorce later that month. Since then, Cyrus has been linked to Carter and Cody Simpson, with whom she split last month, while Hemsworth has been linked to actress Maddison Brown and is rumored to be dating model Gabriella Brooks.
