Michelle Obama recalls alcohol-fuelled, knicker-flashing White House parties
Michelle Obama has reflected fondly on the wild parties she used to throw when she and husband Barack were living in the White House.
The 56-year-old former First Lady called the iconic Washington DC building home between 2009 and 2017 while 58-year-old husband Barack was President of the United States of America.
During a sit-down talk with Oprah Winfrey, 66, as part of the talkshow hosts current Weight Watchers 2020 Vision American tour in Brooklyn, New York, on Saturday night, Michelle explained that some party guests would get a little too carried away.
“People usually are nervous when they come to the White House,” the former First Lady began.
“So if there is a party, people usually over drink because they are nervous, right? Because they don’t know what to expect,” she continued before pointedly adding: “And drinks at the White House are strong.”
She then went on to suggest that underwear would be flashed and guests would be left falling over after knocking back drinks at one of her and Barack’s knees-ups in the presidential mansion.
“So we have seen some people falling out. I’m not going to mention any names, but we’ve seen some Spanx! And some stuff,” she laughed.
As Michelle discussed the future of America, she went on to take a thinly veiled swipe at current President, Donald Trump, as she explained her hopes for her country’s youths.
“My vision is, in particular, is to keep helping young people. To find and build and support that next generation of leaders,” she said.
“To help them understand a broader sense of values that they can operate within. Because I do think we are short on that right now,” she went on.
“That our leaders are not painting a good path for what we want our kids to be,” she continued – hastily adding: “I don’t want to make this political in any way.
She added: “I think young people are hungry for something and it’s time for them to step up and take to the lead because we are getting older.
"We need to move out of the way for them because they are going to have answers that we never thought of.”
