Liam Cunningham Reveals The One Thing He Fought ‘Game of Thrones’ Creative Team On

Liam Cunningham completely shut down one possible storyline in Game of Thrones.

The 59-year-old actor, who portrayed Ser Davos Seaworth, revealed that there was a pitch that Davos would develop a crush on Missandei of Naath, played by Nathalie Emmanuel.

“There’s a streak in [showrunner David] Benioff that’s willful,” he shared with Insider in a new interview. “He likes to stir the shit. When we first meet Daenerys, Benioff and [director Mark Mylod] wanted Davos to have a crush on Missandei. And I fought them. I’m not f***ing doing it.”

Liam continued, explaining why he fought them: “It’s the only thing I ever stood up to them on. The woman is a goddess, but with Davos’ history with Lyanna Mormont and Shireen, you can’t have him getting the hots for a young woman.”

If you don’t know, Lyanna Mormont and Shireen were two pre-teen girls that Davos became a mentor figure for over the course of the series.

“You’re not undoing my hard work engendering the sympathy of the audience to have him be a perv,” he said he told the creative team about the pitch.

Just recently, another star called out this big scene involving Daenerys. See what they said here…
