Kanye West Joked That Kris Humphries Didn’t Think Marrying Kim Kardashian Was Cool

After months of teasing his new album, Kanye West finally released Jesus Is King this week and has been promoting the hell out of it. So far, he hosted a Sunday Service session at The Forum, said wearing a Make America Great Again hat was “God’s practical joke on all liberals,” said he was trying to make 6-year-old North West “out-dress” Rihanna, and appeared on the first-ever installment of James Corden’s Airpool Karaoke. (Like Carpool Karaoke but a plane filled with Kanye’s choir.) And between takes of Kanye using his cell phone during takeoff and talking about his spiritual awakening and tax breaks, he made a pretty good Kris Humphries joke.

First off, Kanye said that marriage years are different from human years and more like dog years. For him, being married to Kim Kardashian for five years actually feels like 500. What a lovely thing to say about your spouse!

Later on, he claimed that he—not iconic couples like Barack and Michelle or Food Network stars Ina and Jeffrey Garten—made marriage cool. He boasted, “People thought it would be uncool to get married, and then I got married and then people went, ‘Oh, that looks cool.’”

Knowing better, James said that is not true at all. He countered, “No one ever thought it would be uncool to marry Kim Kardashian, everybody thought it would be cool to marry Kim Kardashian!”

Kanye laughed and joked, “Well, not Kris Humphries,” which has to be one of the best jokes related to Kim and Kris’s 72-day marriage. Well done, Kanye.
