Justin Bieber Will Release a Greatest Hits Compilation Album This Year … But Will It Have Any New Material?

Ten years ago in 2009, Justin Bieber released his first EP My World. While it has been rumored for some time that Justin and his manager Scooter Braun have for some time been thinking about the right timing for a “Best Of” type compilation of his greatest hits … especially to breathe a little new life into his old catalogue with younger fans that really began following him with the release of his Purpose album.

Well, it looks like such a compilation may not only be a possibility but a done deal. Universal Japan has already started pre-marketing a new Justin Bieber compilation album entitled “The Best.” Universal Japan has also given an expected release date for the compilation album of February 27th.

So far, Universal’s affiliates outside of Japan have not officially confirmed the news. So release dates may vary by country, though that is happening less and less in an era when digital releases have become so tightly coordinated.

Also not yet confirmed — by Universal’s Japanese subsidiary or anyone else — is whether Justin has recorded any new material that will be included with the album. Rumors have run rampant that Justin has been sneaking studio time into his schedule. So it is not clear whether or not he might have recorded a few new tracks to go along with his back catalogue songs.

We will continue reporting on this story as it develops. In the meantime, we have a pic below that is the album art Universal Japan has included in its promotional materials.
