Juice Wrlds ex-girlfriend claims rapper took ‘up to three Percocet pills a day’
Juice Wrlds ex-girlfriend Alexia Smith has claimed that the rapper took 'up to three Percocet pills a day' and mixed prescription strength cough syrup with soda.
The Rapper, real name Jarad Higgins, died after suffering a seizure at Chicago's Midway airport on Sunday days after celebrating his 21st birthday.
Following his passing his former girlfriend Alexia, 21, has opened up on the witnessing the musicians heavy drug habit and how he turned violent when he went through withdrawral.
Alexia, who met Juice in early 2018 and then went onto to split from in October the same year, told MailOnline that the hitmaker turned to self-medicating as he battled with his mental health and that the rapper would mix Percocet – a prescription drug that combines the opioid oxycodone with acetaminophen – with a drink named lean – that mixed prescription cough syrup with a soft drink.
Smith also detailed that she begged Juice to get clean and said she believed he would have up to three 30mg dosed painkillers at a time alongside the lean drink.
The former flame added that she became addicted to lean but got clean and urged Juice to quit the drugs too.
Documenting the struggle, she told: "We started to get physical with each other and then he would just relapse because he couldn’t deal with how much it hurt. His body was in pain."
Reflecting on his death, she added: "He didn't want to be on drugs anymore when he died. That's the heartbreaking part."
"He was a drug addict with no one to tell him no and if he was told no, like by me or Ally [his current girlfriend], he would just do it behind our backs."
It comes after Juice Wrld died on Sunday after his private jet touched down at Chicago's Midway Airport and was taxied to the Atlantic Aviation hangar so police could search for illegal guns and drugs on board.
According to TMZ , the pilot raised the alarm after noticing weapons being carried onto the flight from Los Angeles, and FBI and FAA agents were waiting on the ground when the plane landed.
The US news site reported that Jarad swallowed "a number of Percocet painkillers" to hide them from feds as they searched through his entourage's luggage.
The rapper downed the narcotics "at some point between the plane landing and the feds conducting their search", with sources saying the pills could have contributed to his death in a possible overdose.
An initial autopsy has been carried out, but the coroner is still waiting for the results of toxicology, neuropathology and cardiac pathology tests to determine the cause of death.
TMZ reports paramedics spent 40 minutes trying to stabilise Juice's heartbeat, but he was pronounced dead in hospital.
The publication previously reported how one of Juice's associates told authorities the rapper had a Percocet problem.
Law enforcement sources also say a bottle of codeine cough syrup was found on the plane.
He is said to have been still conscious when he was transported to the medical centre, but died a short time later.
