Strictly: It Takes Two host Janette Manrara, 39, lifted the lid on her husband Aljaž Škorjanec’s plans following his exit from Strictly Come Dancing earlier this year. The professional dancer, 32, shocked fans of the BBC show when he announced he would be moving on, but his wife has shared that “family time” was something he was keen to prioritise in an exclusive interview with Express.co.uk

Speaking on the Pride of Britain red carpet, Janette opened up about Aljaž’s exciting new acting career.

“He’s working on his acting, taking his lessons,” she revealed proudly.

“And spending a lot of time with his family,” she added, “Which I think matters to him a lot, actually.

“So yeah, he’s doing good,” Janette added, before she went on to talk about working with It Takes Two co-star Rylan Clark, 34, for the second year in a row.

Janette joined Rylan as a co-host on It Takes Two last year, after trading in her dancing shoes for a chance to present Strictly’s popular spin-off show.

The professional dancer said of Rylan: “My TV husband? The best ever!

“And Aljaž doesn’t get jealous so it’s perfect,” she added with a giggle.

“He’s amazing, he’s so good at his job as well. I love being on it with him.

“We text all the time too. We call ourselves the naughty sisters of strictly!” Janette revealed happily.

Back in April, Aljaž shocked Strictly fans by announcing that he would not be returning to the BBC show this year.

Sharing a collage of photos from his eight years on the series with his 543,000 Instagram followers, he penned: “On a beautiful sunny day in May 2013 one phone call changed my life forever!

“It went like this… we would like to offer you a position on @bbcstrictly as a professional dancer.

“A dream became a reality and it was the biggest opportunity for a 23 year old boy from Slovenia,” he wrote.

“It didn’t matter how many beautiful ballrooms I performed in during my competitive career, stepping onto the sacred Strictly floor was the most nervous I had ever been.”

He continued: “A little while ago I made the tough decision that Strictly 2021 would be my last.

“The show has given me an opportunity and freedom to create and express myself in front of millions of people every weekend for the last nine years.”

Aljaž went on to thank the Strictly team for their support, as well as his “beautiful partners” and “kind fans”.

Addressing Janette in the post, he wrote: “Your talent and selflessness knows no bounds. We were dating when we started together on the show and now we are husband and wife.

“We got to perform with Andrea Bocelli, Michael Buble, Ed Sheeran, Taylor Swift, BBC Symphony Orchestra.. moments I will keep in my heart forever. I LOVE YOU!”

Strictly Come Dancing has been moved forward a day and airs tonight at 8pm on BBC One.
