James Argent confesses his eating disorder has ‘got the better of him’ and vows ‘enough is enough’

James Argent has revealed his determination to become “happy and healthy” as he admitted his eating disorder has “got the better of him”.
Former The Only Way Is Essex star Arg, 33, shared a throwback photo of himself with his 775,000 followers to thank fans for their support after opening up on plans to have gastric surgery.
James opened up about the surgery plans and revealed he now weighs 26 stone after replacing drink and drugs with junk food in lockdown.
After candidly opening up on the struggles with his weight, Arg thanked fans in the Instagram post.

He wrote alongside the throwback image: “Thank you so much for all your support, I’m overwhelmed by your kindness.
“I was so nervous to do the interview as I didn’t want to face up to the facts that my Eating Disorder has got the better of me again but Its time to be honest with myself & put my health first, Enough is enough!”
Arg, who was recently spotted with Gemma Collins following their split, shared his determination as he continued: “My dream is to be as happy & healthy as I was in this photo, I loved myself & felt confident!
“I appreciate you reaching out & giving me advice about weight loss surgery. I’ve been battling for years & I’ve thought long & hard about it.
“I know people will have there own opinion but it’s my journey & I’m going to go for it. I hope to get back to my very best once & for all!”
It comes after Arg’s best mate Mark Wright was very upset after he discovered Arg’s weight gain.
Speaking to The Sun of Mark, 34, Arg said: “Mark is my inspiration — he’s got his life together, he’s fit and healthy, he’s got a gorgeous wife and a successful career. There’s no reason why I can’t achieve all of those things too when I’ve lost weight.
“He wants to help me and told me ‘get on the scales’. It’s embarrassing to say, but they were so upset when they saw I was nearly 27 stone.

“We used to banter because I was always the chubby one, but this time Mark just said ‘Arg, this isn’t even funny anymore, this is serious’.”
James also revealed he was warned by doctors he needs to have gastric surgery in a bid to lose weight otherwise he could die.
He said: “I don’t want to die. An op is the only way I can lose weight.
“I see pictures of myself and it’s too upsetting. The other day I had to ask my manager to put my shoes on for me because I just couldn’t do it — my belly is too big. I can’t do up my own shoe laces.”
