Is Mathew Knowles Trying To Make A Destiny's Child Reunion Happen?

It’s been 13 years since Destiny’s Child went on tour together and after seeing them perform during Beyoncé’s Coachella performance, fans are now hoping for a reunion tour.

For the past few weeks, rumors have been circulating the group having plans to reunite for a world tour.

Though the rumors have already been shut down by Kelly Rowland, the group’s former manager, Mathew Knowles, isn’t dismissing the idea of this happening.

Mathew Knowles is hopeful the group will reunite in the next few years

It is no question that Destiny’s Child is one of the best girl groups of all time and has acquired quite the fan base over the years.

The girls achieved worldwide success with their songs “Survivor,” “Bootylicious,” and “Independent Women,” as well as earlier tracks like “Bills Bills Bills,” and “Say My Name.”

However, in 2005, the group announced that they would be leaving the band ‘on a high note’ and had their farewell performance in February 2006.

While some fans have already started the rumor that Destiny’s Child is in the works of making a comeback, Beyonce’s father and the group’s former manager, Mathew Knowles, is hopeful a reunion will happen.

While speaking to Metro UK, Knowles discussed the possibility of Beyoncé, Kelly Rowland, and Michelle Williams performing alongside each other once again.

“I certainly hope they do. It would be wonderful, wouldn’t it?” Knowles shared with Metro UK.

The record executive continued by explaining that though he would love for Destiny’s Child to do a reunion tour, it’ll be a while before that happens.

“But you know, things like that require years of preparation and timing,” he said. “Most people don’t know how touring works and how the industry works. It takes years to put together a tour, get the band together, get the dancers together, then decide which size venues you’re going to have, start rehearsals, and it would probably be a world tour… it would two to three years, even if the answer was yes today.”

A reunion isn’t on the group’s radar at the moment, according to Kelly Rowland

While Mathew Knowles is onboard for a Destiny’s Child reunion, one of the group’s founding members isn’t too confident in that happening.

During this year’s Beautycon LA, Kelly Rowland weighed in on the subject while speaking with Entertainment Tonight and shared that this news of this tour happening comes as a surprise to her.

“That was news to me, just as much as it was to you!” Rowland told ET‘s Cassie DiLaura. “I was like, ‘Oh! My god, a tour is happening! Someone call me.’”

Since 2013, rumors have claimed that Rowland, Beyoncé, and Michelle Williams would be recording new music and hitting the road for a reunion tour.

While many of us would love for that to happen, Rowland made it clear that the group is currently focused on other things at the moment.

“Everybody’s supportive of each other’s personal ventures right now,” she explained. “If it were to happen, I would want it to be a surprise. I feel like we know so much now. News is right at your fingertips and sometimes it’s very bad journalism! Shame on you, whoever reported that.”

While a Destiny’s Child comeback would be amazing to witness, we’ll just have to wait to see if this actually ends up happening in the next few years.
