Homeland’s Claire Danes expecting third child with Downton Abbey husband Hugh Dancy

US actress and Homeland star Claire Danes and her husband Hugh Dancy have announced they are expecting their third child together.

A representative of the New York-born star, 47, confirmed the news to People magazine yesterday.

The loved-up pair are yet to reveal to their excited fans whether they are expecting another boy or a girl.

Though they largely keep their personal life away from the realms of publicity, Romeo + Juliet star Claire previously opened up to People magazine about her experience with motherhood after welcoming her first son back in 2012.

The Emmy award-winning actress had described being a mum as "amazing" as she gushed over her eldest, who frequently joined her on the set of Homeland as a toddler.

She said: "He’s a real set baby. It’s really sweet. He loves the [show’s operations room] because of all the lights. It’s a great environment for a kid. It’s the circus!"

Claire and Hugh – a British actor himself, having starred in feature films as Ella Enchanted and Black Hawk Down – are already parents to two sons, 10-year-old Cyrus and Rowan, four.

Opening up on her relationship, Claire previously told Net-A-Porter Magazine that being kept apart whilst she and Hugh respectively work on their own acting projects, is difficult.

"That distance is corrosive, and I’m just bad at it," she said. "And I don’t particularly want to get good at it,' labelling the distance as 'tough'."

Claire continued: "We learned along the way how essential it is for us to be physically together as often as possible."

The duo – who have been together for almost 17 years – first met on the set of American drama film Evening before eventually tying the knot in 2009 in a romantic ceremony in France just months after announcing their engagement.

Talking to The Sun in the years after getting hitched to her Downton Abbey: A New Era star husband, Claire happily explained: "I like marriage. I feel very secure.

"It helps when you are in love with the person you are married to. I do sometimes look at him and think, 'You are really handsome.' He keeps me sane and happy."

In May last year, Hugh revealed a heart-warming anecdote of when he and wife Claire had first met during a chat with W Magazine, being that she forced him to watch the true crime documentary The Staircase after first being introduced.

"When I first met my wife and we just literally just got together, she basically said, look, if we're going to know each other, you sit down and watch this, start to finish," he hilariously revealed.
