Happy Socks Unveils New David Bowie-Inspired Collection

Happy Socks has unveiled a David Bowie collection, inspired by the legend’s “finest visual performances, most iconic characters, and out-of-this-world outfits.”

The collection features six pairs of cotton crew socks and four pairs of kid’s cotton crew socks. The singles are available for $8 to $16, while collectible gift boxes are priced between $32 and $96.

The collection will be sold on the Happy Socks website and its retail stores as well as some other retail outlets.

“When we knew we were doing an homage to Bowie, we knew instantly that it should be a tribute to his unbelievably creative outfits,” said Paula Maso, creative director of Happy Socks. “Bowie was a shape-shifter like no other, and kept on surprising us for decades. It made sense for us to try and translate eight of his most iconic looks into miniature: socks.”

The Silver Lining socks are inspired by Bowie’s silver zebra outfit first worn for his Station to Station album in 1976. The sock is a matte black wrapped in silver foil.

The Ziggy Special is inspired by the designs created for Bowie by Japanese fashion designer Kansai Yamamoto. The sock features a sparkly Lurex knitted heel and toe.

Bowie died on January 10, 2016, after a battle with cancer, just two days after his 69th birthday.
